Moving Checklist
Moving to a new home can be overwhelming, but with TBPM Express Packers and Movers, it doesn't have to be. Follow this comprehensive checklist to ensure a smooth and stress-free move. Whether you're moving locally or across the country, we've got you covered!
6-8 Weeks Before The Move
- ✅Read and sign all moving-related documents, including the extent of your carrier's liability and the estimate/order for service.
- ✅Prepare a priority list of items to pack. Discard or donate items you no longer need.
- ✅Decide if you'd like to handle any packing tasks yourself and inform your move counselor.
- ✅Set goals and deadlines to ensure all packing is completed by moving day.
4-6 Weeks Before The Move
- 📦Use up canned and frozen food. Donate pantry items to charity if possible.
- 📦Create a notification list for personal accounts, including utility services, mail carriers, doctors, and subscriptions.
- 📦Plan a yard sale or donation drop-off for items you don't plan to move.
2-3 Weeks Before The Move
- 📅Notify your move counselor of any changes, such as additions/subtractions to your pre-move survey or extra stops.
- 📅Host a going-away party and visit local landmarks with sentimental value.
- 📅Prepare household items: clean rugs and draperies, and get written appraisals for antiques.
The Week of the Move
- 📦Pack a box with essentials for your new home, including cleaning supplies, toiletries, snacks, and tools.
- 📦Empty and defrost your refrigerator and freezer at least 24 hours before the move.
The Day Before the Move
- 🚚Resist the temptation to stage items like dishes, mirrors, and beds. Let the packers handle it.
- 🚚Mark items you're taking personally with a “DO NOT PACK & DO NOT LOAD” label.
The Day of the Move
- 📱Keep your cell phone fully charged and carry a power bank if possible.
- 🏠Create a floor plan of your new home and label rooms for easy box placement.
- 🔍Take a final walkthrough to ensure all items are packed, faucets are turned off, and lights are disconnected.
- 🎉Relax and welcome to your new home! Ensure utilities are set up and check your household goods for any damages or missing items.
